It’s our first doctor spotlight and we’re proud to have Dr. Zachary Casagrande leading the way. Dr. Casagrande is a shining example of what every health care provider should be: both a leader and a friend. Not only does he create smiles for a living, but he’s also raised over $1.1 million dollars for his local community. And it gets better. Did you know, NVO has their very own foundation dedicated to raising awareness and funds for pediatric oncology? Keep reading to learn more about this rock star orthodontist and Propel Preferred Provider.
Dr. Zachary Casagrande has treated more Invisalign® patients than any other provider in the state of Virginia, and is in the top 1% of Invisalign® orthodontists nationwide. Because of that, Invisalign® has chosen him as one of their national speakers. Dr. Casagrande has extensive training with all variations of orthodontic care from simple cases to the most complex. And, as a member of the VCU Craniofacial/Facial Reconstruction Team, he also has years of experience with cases that require orthognathic (jaw) surgery.
A Northern Virginia native, Dr. Casagrande received his dental, masters, and orthodontic degrees all from the Medical College of Virginia (MCV). He remains a part of the Medical College of Virginia as a professor in the Department of Orthodontics.
Q: Let’s jump right in, your office is such a FUN place to be. What’s your secret?
A: Our team at NVO is made up of the best people in orthodontics. We truly love what we do and are passionate about impacting our patients lives, both inside and outside the office.
Q: Your amazing success has allowed for you to give back to your community. Tell us about your efforts.
A: My team and I are dedicated to the fight against pediatric cancer and have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars and countless hours to battling this horrible disease. Our Ashburn location is the first dental office in the country to have its own Cup for a Cure Starbucks Cafe inside the office!
Q: A Starbucks inside the office, you guys are onto something! How does it work?
A: Our Cup for a Cure Cafe is available to all patients and their guests. For every FREE drink that we pour, we donate $1 to our 501(c)(3) Foundation that benefits pediatric oncology and community needs.

Q: Switching gears a bit, we think it’s safe to say you’re an expert when it comes to clear aligner treatment. How important is it to consistently wear your aligners and keep them seated?
A: It’s extremely important to wear your aligners 20-22 hours per day in order for teeth to stay on track. Teeth can only move if they have a constant force (the aligners) pushing on them, so if they are not worn consistently, the teeth will not track properly.
When did you begin incorporating Propel products into your treatments?
A: Almost two years ago.
Q: What has patient acceptance been like?
A: Patient acceptance has been great. We’ve found that the ability to offer Propel products has given us an edge in the orthodontic market because people want to see results. It’s especially beneficial when patients have an upcoming event, like a wedding or graduation, because Propel products provide greater predictability and the possibility of shortened treatment times.
Q: Do you see referrals from your Propel (both Excellerator and VPro series) patients?
A: Yes, patients often refer their friends and family members because they are so impressed with how quickly they are seeing results!
Q: And finally, what benefits do you see in your practice as a result of utilizing Propel products?
A: Greater predictability, greater patient satisfaction, and less chair time!
Northern Virginia Orthodontics (NVO) celebrates straight teeth and healthy smiles.
